We've found the real villain

MSNBC:

On Wednesday, Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., said the accounts are true.

Military officials told NBC News that the Marine Corps' own evidence appears to show Murtha is right.

A videotape taken by an Iraqi showed the aftermath of the alleged attack: a blood-smeared bedroom floor and bits of what appear to be human flesh and bullet holes on the walls.

The video, obtained by Time magazine, was broadcast a day after town residents told The Associated Press that American troops entered homes on Nov. 19 and shot dead 15 members of two families, including a 3-year-old girl, after a roadside bomb killed a U.S. Marine.

On Nov. 20, U.S. Marines spokesman Capt. Jeffrey Pool issued a statement saying that on the previous day a roadside bomb had killed 15 civilians and a Marine. In a later gunbattle, U.S. and Iraqi troops killed eight insurgents, he said.

U.S. military officials later confirmed that the version of events was wrong.

Murtha, a vocal opponent of the war in Iraq, said at a news conference Wednesday that sources within the military have told him that an internal investigation will show that "there was no firefight, there was no IED (improvised explosive device) that killed these innocent people. Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood."

Military officials say Marine Corp photos taken immediately after the incident show many of the victims were shot at close range, in the head and chest, execution-style. One photo shows a mother and young child bent over on the floor as if in prayer, shot dead, said the officials, who spoke to NBC News on condition of anonymity because the investigation hasn't been completed.

One military official says it appears the civilians were deliberately killed by the Marines, who were outraged at the death of their fellow Marine.

“This one is ugly," one official told NBC News.

Three Marine officers — commanders in Haditha — have been relieved of duty, and at least 12 Marines in all are under investigation for what would be the worst single incident involving the deliberate killing of civilians by U.S. military in Iraq.

Fox News:

Ali, 76, whose left leg was amputated years ago because of diabetes, died after being shot in the stomach and chest. His wife, Khamisa, 66, was shot in the back. Ali's son, Jahid, 43, was hit in the head and chest. Son Walid, 37, was burned to death after a grenade was thrown into his room, and a third son, 28-year-old Rashid, died after he was shot in the head and chest, Rsayef and Hamza said.

Also among the dead were son Walid's wife, Asma, 32, who was shot in the head, and their son Abdullah, 4, who was shot in the chest, Rsayef and Hamza said.

Walid's 8-year-old daughter, Iman, and his 6-year-old son, Abdul-Rahman, were wounded and U.S. troops took them to Baghdad for treatment. The only person who escaped unharmed was Walid's 5-month-old daughter, Asia. The three children now live with their maternal grandparents, Rsayef and Hamza said.

Rsayef said those killed in the second house were his brother Younis, 43, who was shot in the stomach and chest, the brother's wife Aida, 40, who was shot in the neck and chest while still in bed where she was recuperating from bladder surgery. Their 8-year-old son Mohammed bled to death after being shot in the right arm, Rsayef said.

Also killed were Younis's daughters, Nour, 14, who was shot in the head; Seba, 10, who was hit in the chest; Zeinab, 5, shot in the chest and stomach; and Aisha, 3, who was shot in the chest. Hoda Yassin, a visiting relative, was also killed, Rsayef and Hamza said.

The only survivor from Younis's family was his 15-year-old daughter Safa, who pretended she was dead. She is living with her grandparents, Rsayef said.

Gateway Pundit:

Shame on John Murtha!

Confederate Yankee:

It would seem appropriate that the United States House of Representatives should at the very least censure Congressman Murtha, who has gone so far out of his way to initiate such inflammatory and potentially dangerous rhetoric. He has dishonored his seat, the military criminal justice system, the Marine Corps and the United States of America.

Blue Crab Boulevard

If Representative Murtha refuses to resign, the Congress should remove him for cause. Period.

Sweetness and Light:

Murtha (probably rightly) figures as long as he keeps this up nobody will dare go after him for him and his brother’s defense kickback scams.

He’d rather betray his country some more than go to jail, I guess.

Kalifornia Konservative:

Frankly, this is the actions of a traitor or a sellout. He deserves to be ridiculed, excoriated and frog-marched off Capitol Hill, then remanded to jail. No bail.

Inside the closed intelligence hearings

Don't ask me how I got it, but I have a recording of the testimony Gen. Hayden gave to the Senate Intelligence Committee during their closed session. Here's the audio file.

Meet Smokey, the fossil fuels mascot

Fred L. Smith, Jr.
President and Founder, Competitive Enterprise Institute

Dear Mr. Smith,

Although I like your new ads touting the many benefits of a carbon dioxide rich atmosphere, they lack the friendliness of earlier industry advertisements many of us boomers recall so fondly. I'll never forget the joy I felt as a child whenever Utah Power and Light's Redd E. Kilowatt made an appearance on Kennecott Copper Theater or the many happy television moments I shared with "Our Friend the Atom."

That's why I've created Smokey, the Fossil Fuels Mascot for your use. He'll ad that element of friendliness that is so lacking in your current ads.

I'm also enclosing a couple of print ads I created especially for you. Both ads incorporate Smokey along with variations on your tag line, "They call it pollution. We Call it life." Feel free to use them without compensating me. Your gift of carbon dioxide is all the thanks I need.

Heterosexually yours,

Gen. JC Christian, patriot

Note to readers: Please join us at Draft Gore 2008. Al Gore must be stopped. He doesn't appreciate the benefits of a carbon dioxide rich atmosphere. I'm hoping that once he is confronted with the prospect of being drafted, he'll do the right thing--he'll do what Our Leader, Our Deputy Leader, and their patriotic sycophants in Congress did when they faced the draft: get a bunch of deferments or join the National Guard and then go AWOL.

Things Vox Day learned from the Nazis

Joseph Farah
World Net Daily

Dear Mr. Farah,

I was surprised today when I reread Vox Day's latest WND column. On Monday, the third paragraph read:

Not only will it work, but one can easily estimate how long it would take. If it took the Germans less than four years to rid themselves of 6 million Jews, many of whom spoke German and were fully integrated into German society, it couldn't possibly take more than eight years to deport 12 million illegal aliens, many of whom don't speak English and are not integrated into American society.

Now, it looks like this:

It couldn't possibly take more than eight years to deport 12 million illegal aliens, many of whom don't speak English and are not integrated into American society. In fact, the hysterical response to the post-rally enforcement rumors tends to indicate that the mere announcement of a massive deportation program would probably cause a third of that 12 million to depart for points south within a week.

After a little research, I learned that you were the person who had editing it. Apparently, you were uncomfortable with the method he used for calculating the period of time it would take to cleanse our nation of undocumented brown people. I guess I can understand that. In these politically correct times, it's unwise to look to Nazi Germany's national purification program as a model for detaining and shipping large numbers of undesirables.

Sadly, Day doesn't understand that. When confronted by the ultra-PC, the-holocaust-was-a-bad-thing crowd, he responded by writing, "So, there are no lessons to be learned from the National Socialists?" Although such a response might be met with a chorus of approving amens in Day's beloved Southern Baptist church, it doesn't play well to a more diverse audience.

You know better. You removed the reference to Nazi Germany, but kept Day's holocaust-derived calculation and thus solved your political correctness problem.

Unfortunately, now you have a new problem. There's no longer a basis for Day's 12 million deportations in 8 years calculation. It looks like he just pulled that figure out of his ass. You need to come up with another basis for that figure. Perhaps the removal of the Cherokee to Oklahoma -- popularly known as the Trail of Tears -- might serve that purpose.

Heterosexually yours,

Gen. JC Christian

Pam's latest video

Our dear Pamela is becoming a net-video superstar.

The stench of defeatism hangs heavy over the wankosphere

Capt. Ed Morrisey
Captain's Quarters

Dear Capt. Ed,

The stench of defeatism is hanging heavy over our beloved wankosphere. Many of the 101st Fighting Keyboarders' finest warriors are wavering when we need them most. They are growing weary as they toil at their keyboards, waiting for the long, hard work of final mop-up operations to end.

I guess I can't blame them. It seems like generations have passed since Our Leader declared our mission accomplished and Deputy Leader Dick assured us that we had turned the corner. Unfortunately, none of us realized then that the corner was more of a curve than a ninety-degree joining of two roads or that the curve turned so gently, it may takes us decades to completely round it. That's what's driving our comrades to dismay.

This cancerous defeatism is spreading very quickly. It has already felled such great keyboard commandos as the Anchoress and neo-neocon, and even Cabinboy Steven is beginning to waver. We must act quickly to stop it from infecting others.

That's why I'm asking you to join me in promoting my "Cheetos for Chickenhawks" project. I created it to raise the 101st Fighting Keyboarders' morale by sending them bags of Cheetos and subscriptions to Udders: The Magazine for the Red State Man. I'm also developing a car magnet shaped like a hand flashing a "V for Victory" sign (the fingers will be stained the color of Cheetos) that we can send them as well.

Well, what do you think? Can I count on your help?

Heterosexually yours,

Gen. JC Christian, patriot

Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers who read Jesus' General.

I'm waiting for the sexiest, most intelligent mother in the world, my wife Ofjoshua, to return home from breakfast (she and the kids always have breakfast with Mr. Garcia on Mothers Day--it cheers the poor lonely guy up) so I can wish her a happy Mothers day as well.

But after I found the following proclamation by Julia Ward Howe this morning, I'm no longer sure it's a holiday we should be celebrating:

Mother's Day Proclamation - 1870
by Julia Ward Howe

Arise then...women of this day!
Arise, all women who have hearts!
Whether your baptism be of water or of tears!
Say firmly:
"We will not have questions answered by irrelevant agencies,
Our husbands will not come to us, reeking with carnage,
For caresses and applause.
Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn
All that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.
We, the women of one country,
Will be too tender of those of another country
To allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs."

From the voice of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with
Our own. It says: "Disarm! Disarm!
The sword of murder is not the balance of justice."
Blood does not wipe our dishonor,
Nor violence indicate possession.
As men have often forsaken the plough and the anvil
At the summons of war,
Let women now leave all that may be left of home
For a great and earnest day of counsel.
Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.
Let them solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means
Whereby the great human family can live in peace...
Each bearing after his own time the sacred impress, not of Caesar,
But of God -
In the name of womanhood and humanity, I earnestly ask
That a general congress of women without limit of nationality,
May be appointed and held at someplace deemed most convenient
And the earliest period consistent with its objects,
To promote the alliance of the different nationalities,
The amicable settlement of international questions,
The great and general interests of peace.
