Dear Mr. Pesca,

Who wouldn't be moved by Landrew's bitter tale of a high school dream shattered? Even after all these years, you could hear the anger in her voice as she described how her high school experience was ruined by impoverished Hispanics who were forced upon her school as a result of affirmative action. How dare some lowly Puerto Rican like Sotomajor compete with her to give the valedictorian speech and win! Everyone knew Landrew deserved that honor, and they still believe it--her friends called to commiserate when Obama made the announcement.
Never mind that governmental affirmative action policies were never applied to Catholic high schools like the one Landrew and Sotomajor attended. Assigning Landrews bitterness to affirmative action serves a higher purpose. It advances the current conservative narrative about Sotomajor: that she is stupid, and like all brown people, undeserving of the success she's achieved.
But do you think it's enough? Perhaps there are other angles you can pursue. For example, I remember back in kindergarten, Debra Hurd peed in the clay box. I've been waiting 40 years for her to be nominated for a judgeship so I could use that against her. Maybe one of Sotomajor's old kindergarten colleagues has a similar story. Have you contacted them?
Heterosexually yours,
Gen. JC Christian, patriot
