After seeing a bunch of good reviews for HBO's "Angels in America," I decided to sit down for six hours to watch it. I was very disappointed. It could have been a great movie if they'd just cut out all of the scenes dealing with homosexuals.
I'm not the only person who thought so. Here are what some of the more intelligent reviewers at the Internet Movie Database had to say:
- TitanicSUCKED
Los Angeles
Summary: Another BORING, left wing, blame others, teleplay on the AIDS epidemic
First of all let me say that I am no fan of Tony Kushner, the gay playwright and author of this cable series, Angels In America. He advocates COMMUNISM AND SOCIALISM for goodness sakes! Instead of being an entertainment piece, it is a political piece that is highly offensive! And, after watching the first hour of Angels in America it seems that Mr. Kushner likes to blame the government for the spread of AIDS instead of having people taking some responsibility for their behavior. Mr Kushner is famous for bragging about Bill Clinton and his fight against the disease when he never cured the disease at all. In fact, thousands of people died of AIDS during the Clinton administration and he was helpless to do anything about it. (Today HIV positive people are forced to take drug cocktails to keep themselves alive.) The disease is more widespread around the world today in 2003 than it has at any time in history. What we have here is a left-wing, gay rights propaganda movie that blames others for the spread of AIDS instead of looking at how the disease is spread in the first place. Instead of offering hope, this film tends to take a one sided view of the epidemic, which is very offensive. This was another attempt by a socialist member of the gay community to blame the government instead of advocating personal responsibilty about the disease. I find it reprehensible! I hope that many people read this review before watching the cable movie.
GuysRULEchicksDROOL
Summary: COMPLETELY BORING!
Only extreme gay rights fanatics could love this SLOW nonsense. There is nothing great about it.
It's movies like this that make me question HBO in general.
The worst cable series of 2003!
How can anyone argue with a guy who calls himself "GuysRULEchicksDROOL?"
You won't see these kinds of intelligent, Christian reviews in the liberal media.
