Two of the most common misperceptions people have about Republicans are that we're racist and we treat working people badly. Anyone who believes those things obviously hasn't met Oregon gubernatorial candidate Ron Saxton.
Saxton doesn't care that his undocumented workers have brown skin as long as they will pick his cherries. If they'll do that he'll pay them wages competitive with what they'd receive at a McDonalds in Michoacán. But that's not all, he'll also let them live on his farm in an old shed stripped of such maintenance nuisances as plumbing, heating, and electricity.
That's compassionate conservatism in action.
