In Praise of Slavery: Teaparty Organizer Thanks Confederacy for the Two Minute Warning

Tony Venuti
Radio Patriot
Organizer, United Border Coalition Tea Party Rally

Dear Mr. Venuti,

With all the recent controversy about supposed racism within the teaparty, it's good to see one of our leaders making an effort to reach out to blacks--or as you like to call them, "Negroes." Of course, I'm referring to your blog post about the benefits of slavery (ellipses in original unless bracketed):
To all of the Black/Negro professionals athletes and media star, I say the following
….where would they have been without that abomination slavery…..think about it…..I know it hurts…but still…where would you be….

[...]

just make sure you know WHO is BUTTERING your bread….Yes as my mouth is Wattering in success, I’m Buttering your bread please don’t forget that I enable you.

Again, Whitey’s think about it….give yourself some credit…..If those poor souls, the first slaves, the true victims, if they were to come back to witness ..
first hand, generations ahead, the 2 minute time clock of the Super Bowl or the NBA Championship watching one of their own,… 10 score forward,…. make the grade…
what do you think great, great, great, great grandfathers thoughts might be?

I will tell you what great, super great granddad would say…Dig on this.
“Hey baby, if it wasn’t for those of us who took the boat ride, you would not be here… now give me some of that cha ching/signing bonus just received……..
Who could argue with reasoning like that? Slavery was a good thing because it gave us the two minute warning and the NBA (minus the Utah Jazz) and it gave black men high paying gigs and a semblance of citizenship.

But, as good as your analysis is, it's limited by its historical focus. It ignores the most pressing questions we currently face: are slavery's benefits sustainable and what can slavery do for us, tomorrow?

The popularity of soccer, a foreign sport with a bias against thumbs, is growing rapidly in this great land of ours. Indeed, it's growing so fast, it could rival football, basketball, and baseball as America's pastimes in a decade or two. We have nothing to offer up against it, because we no longer have slavery to serve as a catalyst for the creation of new sports.

We need to bring slavery back. It's our only hope of retaining our sports hegemony into the next century.

As a teaparty leader, a talk radio host, and an expert on how slavery sparked sports development, you're the perfect guy to lead a modern pro-slavery movement. Think about it. It could lead to great things--you could be the Andy Stern of rollerball! I hope you'll consider it.

Heterosexually yours,

Gen. JC Christian. patriot

  3. Damned straight. Could you imagine a return to black slavery? Imagine how damned fast your litter would travel with some recently re-enslaved black atheletes running it? Not only fast, it is environmentally friendly and frees Americans from dependance on foreign oil.

  6. General, Sir:

Have you thought about passing this fine epistle on to Barry Bonds? I mean with or without the muscle candy Barry swings a mean Lousiville slugger. I'll bet he could edumicate Signor Venuti--wait a minnit, wtf sortaname is "Venuti"? He sounds like a goddamned furriner. I smell a rat or,in Venuti's case, ratshit.

  7. And as Jimmy the Greek (or somebody) pointed out, if not for the special breeding programs of the slave owners, as they attempted to breed larger, stronger slaves, blacks today wouldn't enjoy the sports advantages they have against whites, and basketball would still be dominated by funny-looking white boys shooting granny shots from the free throw line.

  8. Mr. Venuti’s tract is a thing of beauty. Especially with all the odd ellipses and such. But I think he also ought thank my Irish ancestors who kept his Italian ancestors from getting good jobs in places like Chicago and Boston and New York. We helped them by all but locking them out of the police departments, city agencies, unions, factory jobs and so forth, and so the Italians were forced to, er, create their own economy, if you catch my drift. And you know how crafty those Italians can be.

(P.S. – thanks, General, for the link. I genuinely appreciate it.)

Sunovabitch socked me in the mouth! Some ethnic groups just hate being reminded about all the favours that white men have done for them...

It is really a shame that you, Mr Christian, and your cohorts cannot conduct a gentlemanly dialoge with true gentlemen. You are the biased one, you are bigot. You refuse to listen to hard truths. You have shown your predjudice glaringly. You, sir, are not a Christian. I suggest you don't claim the title. It does not fit you.

How about some facts concerning Slavery?
I agree with you on one point. Slavery was the second worst institution America has had. The first is abortion, or killing babies, which is legal.
Fact No. 1. 10% of Southern slave owners were black. Do your research. I tell you truth
Fact No. 2. Only 6% of Southerners were slave owners. 54% were fighting for states rights, just like we are doing today
Fact No. 3. The Emancipation Proclaimation applied only to Southern States. Northern states were allowed to keep their slaves.
Check it out. do your research Read it.

What are your thoughts on these truths. Is this really Mr. Christian of this movement or some joker? I was disheartened by your responses.Your prior responses do not indicate a man serious to his cause. I hope you are not a joke. I pray that you are a man seeking truth, not a clown. Donald

  26. It's been a racist symbol since day one: Confederate Vice-President Alexander Stephens: "Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests upon the great truth, that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery -- subordination to the superior race -- is his natural and normal condition. [Applause.] This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth."

Thank you Mr. Christian for an intelligent answer!! Why is it a racist symbol because of one man's opinion? Why do a few racists pinheads who use that flag give it such a negative slam. Damn those racists! Mr. Christian, I challenge you to seek the truth behind that flag. If you refuse you are exhibiting prejudice just as the white racist are. Don't let that happen!! Don't let your lack of knowledge label you as prejudice. I am open to a dialogue(spelled it right then)with you concerning the truth. Please do not fail me.

"If all earthly power were given me," said Lincoln in a speech delivered in Peoria, Illinois, on October 16, 1854, "I should not know what to do, as to the existing institution [of slavery]. My first impulse would be to free all the slaves, and send them to Liberia, to their own native land." After acknowledging that this plan's "sudden execution is impossible," he asked whether freed blacks should be made "politically and socially our equals?" "My own feelings will not admit of this," he said, "and [even] if mine would, we well know that those of the great mass of white people will not ... We can not, then, make them equals."5 President Abraham Lincoln

  30. Anonymous8:51 PM

One of Lincoln's most representative public statements on the question of racial relations was given in a speech at Springfield, Illinois, on June 26, 1857.6 In this address, he explained why he opposed the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which would have admitted Kansas into the Union as a slave state:

There is a natural disgust in the minds of nearly all white people to the idea of indiscriminate amalgamation of the white and black races ... A separation of the races is the only perfect preventive of amalgamation, but as an immediate separation is impossible, the next best thing is to keep them apart where they are not already together. If white and black people never get together in Kansas, they will never mix blood in Kansas ...

I encourage you to research these quotes. Mr. Lincoln himself appears to be a racist.

Robert E. Lee's Opinion Regarding Slavery
This letter was written by Lee in response to a speech given by then President Pierce.
Robert E. Lee letter dated December 27, 1856:

I was much pleased the with President's message. His views of the systematic and progressive efforts of certain people at the North to interfere with and change the domestic institutions of the South are truthfully and faithfully expressed. The consequences of their plans and purposes are also clearly set forth. These people must be aware that their object is both unlawful and foreign to them and to their duty, and that this institution, for which they are irresponsible and non-accountable, can only be changed by them through the agency of a civil and servile war. There are few, I believe, in this enlightened age, who will not acknowledge that slavery as an institution is a moral and political evil. It is idle to expatiate on its disadvantages. I think it is a greater evil to the white than to the colored race. While my feelings are strongly enlisted in behalf of the latter, my sympathies are more deeply engaged for the former. The blacks are immeasurably better off here than in Africa, morally, physically, and socially. The painful discipline they are undergoing is necessary for their further instruction as a race, and will prepare them, I hope, for better things. How long their servitude may be necessary is known and ordered by a merciful Providence. Their emancipation will sooner result from the mild and melting influences of Christianity than from the storm and tempest of fiery controversy. This influence, though slow, is sure. The doctrines and miracles of our Savior have required nearly two thousand years to convert but a small portion of the human race, and even among Christian nations what gross errors still exist! While we see the course of the final abolition of human slavery is still onward, and give it the aid of our prayers, let us leave the progress as well as the results in the hands of Him who, chooses to work by slow influences, and with whom a thousand years are but as a single day. Although the abolitionist must know this, must know that he has neither the right not the power of operating, except by moral means; that to benefit the slave he must not excite angry feelings in the master; that, although he may not approve the mode by which Providence accomplishes its purpose, the results will be the same; and that the reason he gives for interference in matters he has no concern with, holds good for every kind of interference with our neighbor, -still, I fear he will persevere in his evil course. . . . Is it not strange that the descendants of those Pilgrim Fathers who crossed the Atlantic to preserve their own freedom have always proved the most intolerant of the spiritual liberty of others?

  37. Yeah, I'd ignore the writings of the founders of the confederacy too. Go with the generals and others who weren't involved in domestic policy instead. It's a better argument for you.

Still, both President Davis* and Vice President Stephens**--at the beginning of their terms and the founding of the Confederacy--said it was about slavery. Perhaps they were only trying to confuse modern Americans. Maybe they were bilderbergers, Illuminati, or worse yet, secret Muslims.

  38. The African slave trade was outlawed in 1807.

This original Old Glory was made and presented to a Captain Driver by his mother and some young ladies of his native Salem, Massachusetts. The year is uncertain, but it was probably sometime in the 1820s.

"Old Glory" did not exist as such until the 1820's. The last legitimate slave ship sailed in 1807.

No slave ship ever sailed under "Old Glory".

In fact, The Star Spangled Banner didn't even exist as a nickname until 1815, so no slave ship ever sailed under the Star Spangled Banner, either.

Donald, you copy and paste history with copious gusto, but you really have no sense of what it really is.

As long as we are talking about flags:

The Southern Cross has been appropriated by the KKK, the NeoNazis and the Aryan Nations, to name the most well known hate groups. To say it symbolizes racism based on "one man's opinion" is a bit disingenuous, or perhaps it would be kinder to say obtuse.

Good Morning, Ladies, Excellent responses!! Thank you. Wonderful OPINIONS, but where are the facts. Facts, facts, my friends. With the exception of Mr. Cricket, not a one of you boys have done a bit of homework. I am still a bit disappointed. Good Work, JCRICKET. Thank you. We are off to a good start.
I am still waiting for a response about MR. Lincoln's speeches. He surely was involved with domestic policy. And Mr. Christian, why ignore the beliefs of the Commanding Generals of the Confederacy when it was they who were doing the actual fighting. Think about this, what was Lee fighting for? I will give you a hint; it wasn't slavery. Why would he fight for an institution that he didn't support? Davis and Stephens were definitely not the only "founders" of the Confederacy.
Mr. Cricket, these groups who use Confederate symbols for their despicable racism are a mere minority and do no represent those who know the truth. You are judging a particular group based on the actions of a few. That is the definition of "prejudice", the exact thing you despise. Another word for "appropriated" is "stole". Those who know the truth about that flag condemm these hate groups that use it for their nefarious purposes. (Extra points for looking up "nefarious") And what the heck is a "bilderberger" and what does it have to do with our conversation? Stick to the point, boy!
And yes, Mr. Christian, I am abnormal. When all of normalcy embraces unfounded opinions and prejudice, then I gladly choose to be abnormal. I seek truth based on facts, do you?
So far, most of what I have heard is puny diatribes.(extra points for looking up diatribes) Give me some pithy rebuttals of the speeches of Mr. Lincoln and the letter of General Lee, if you dare.
Forgive the topic change, but I am curious. Why a clown suit? I am imagining you, Mr. Christian, in a clown suit holding a red burnt flag at a Tea Party Rally. I hate to tell you this but I think you are in for a big letdown. Those folks are pretty much going to ignore you. They could care less that you have burned a Confederate Flag. And what is worse, they won't understand the point of your cause or the point you are trying to make. As I understand it, you are trying to elicit a pummeling from a redneck in the crowd of Tea Party goers. I am sure there are a few "good ole boys" there who would want to remove your snot with their fists, but don't count on it happening. Those Tea Partiers are not what you think. Maybe you should get a brighter idea. Maybe using a Confederate Flag to light an American Flag. That would piss off more people. It would be good if you dressed as Lady Liberty. As for burning the flag, that's nothing new; it's been burnt before and it's being burnt today. And which confederate flag to you plan to burn; the first, second or third national flag, the bonnie blue, the Army of Tennessee, The Army of the Trans Mississippi or just the battle flag. Maybe you should chose one of each. That would be about 50. That is a lot of burning.
JC, I see no cohesion in your movement. I see no leadership. Who is JC Christian? Why has he chosen to remain anonymous? I heard your radio interview with this Dave guy. You made a terrible mistake not giving your name then. It was a great opportunity. It would have given a lot more credence to your cause. It came off as weak, pitiful. If all you boys can do is rant and slam, then you come off as Goobers. That is a Southern term for "Clowns" Forgive the directness.

That's the Teabagger logic we all love so much.

BTW, my real name IS Bukko Canukko. Those damn Great White Northerners made me change it from what it was (Smedley Butler) as a condition for them letting me and my wife immigrate to their country. Just a few more questions. I saw where you claim 716 members of your Burn the Flag Movement. That is very impressive. Forgive me if I sound antagonistic, I am not. Do all these members plan to dress as clowns and attend the Tea Party Rallys. If so, I have got to see this. Will the location you plan to use be posted on your website? I would consider attending. It will be interesting to see how many of the 716 actually plan to attend. I fear your goal is news media attention. And I understand that it is necessary to get your word out, but that in itself detracts from the integrity of your message. This may seem my opinion. It is not. I am trying to convey to you the possibility of how you will appear to Media and Tea Partiers and generally, Americans. 54. One difference between the Bukko and the Donald is that I'm not itching for that civil war to happen, whereas the Teabaggers are. I could be wrong about my dire predictions; the 'Baggers hope they're right. (They won't admit that publicly, but they want it, because they think their faction will win this time. Only, in a civil war, everybody loses.)

My view about mass carnage is the same as it is on porn -- might be fun to watch from a distance, but I wouldn't want to be so close to the action that warm sticky stuff gets on me. I get enough of that at work.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hey, Bukko, I knew you weren’t advocating civil war; just odd that after your rather graphic comment above, all Donald has to say is “There is truth in what you say.” That’s way creepier than anything you said, by a long shot.

  56. I have an aunt and cousins who agree with me in the same way teh Donald does.

They detest everything I believe in, but they're Christians, so they don't bother to bring it up, like you wouldn't talk about that big wart on the side of Cousin Junie's face. But they are firmly convinced America is headed for a sudden terminal decline.

Aunt Jane and her clutch of kids (they're a Southern Maryland tobacco-farming family) are darkly glad about that. They have looked upon modern America and found it wanting in their sight. Sinful and decadent it is, letting the gheys and minorities and immigrants and welfare cheats run around in public all uppity. Those wicked people are all going to a real and tormentful Hell anyway, so why don't they just get on with the suffering in this lifetime? The fact that the pre-damned are waltzing and wallowing where everybody can see them is an affront. They would approve of how Saudi Arabarbaria does things if only they'd do it in a proper Christian Old Testament way.

When I want to tap into the patriotikkk mindset of Teh Gen'l and teh Donald, all I have to do is think of what Aunt Grimey (not her real name, but close. They are dirt farmers, after all) would say about an issue in her secret heart. That's a small, dark target, so sometimes I have to work at hitting it.

Then I can give her a voice at sites like this. She needs me to do it, because she'd never visit such spots. Just disgusting...

  57. I hope I'm not too late, I have a few questions for the wise Sir Donald.
First, by the mid 1800's the rest of the industrialized world had begun exploiting their labor force with cash wages instead of using the much less efficient brute force method of slavery. Do you think the South clung to their 'peculiar institution' because they were stupid businessmen or because the ruling elite wanted to retain the status quo and the other 98% of southern freemen were too gullible to pursue their own best interests?
Do you really think that the Confederate Flag is a symbol of some futile little rebellion that ended in ruination after less than 5 years. Do you think that the Jim Crow era was racist? Isn’t that flag truly a symbol adopted by the poor white working class in the years since. A delusional source of pride to cling to while the elites regained, and kept, their wealth by playing the poor whites against the poor blacks? Do you think that the working man’s contempt for education in general, and logical thought in particular, serves anyone other than their elite masters?
