Cecilia Giménez was saddened by the condition of a fresco of our Lord and Savior crowned with thorns. Over the years, pieces of Jesus' immaculate face had flaked off to such an extent, our Redeemer's visage began to resemble that of his most holy and syphilitic eminence, Pope Julius II.
Yearning to see the Christ restored to his full glory, Senora Giménez prayed to the Virgin and asked for a miracle. Our Lady responded by rewarding her with the gift of art restoration.
Unfortunately, Mary, Mother of God, loves a good practical joke.
