Hospital week

It's a little after three AM. I've been at the hospital with my daughter most of the night. She's been admitted three times since Saturday. Two procedures, so far, another tomorrow. She's in a lot of pain. I feel helpless. Too tired to write, tonight.

  2. So very sorry to hear this. As Teresa said above, take time to take care of yourself and your family ... the world will be just a screwed up and have just as much need of your particular brand of wisdom when you're able to rejoin us. We'll be keeping you in our thoughts. Sending lots of good jiggy your way.

  4. Sometimes it's easy to forget there's a guy with a family on the other end of the intertube. Best wishes to your daughter, and hang in there.

  9. Just take care of her and yourself and the rest of the family, and don't worry about us. We'll just go back to goofing off until you get back.

I love you man, even though we've never met. You're like the scary, fun, sarcastic big brother I never had, so I am beaming your daughter (and you) some positive energy right now. I wish both of you the very best.

  13. Good luck, Gen'l, and if you need any medical explanations, let me know at Bukko@SiriusB.net.

Hint: bribing medical staff with savoury food such as pizza instead of the usual candy or donuts will make your daughter stand out in their mind more. Being regarded as an individual more than another number sometimes brings better service.

And if that doesn't work, you can always fall back on the "Do you know who I am? I'm a legend on teh Internets tubez!" Don't tell anyone you're friends with McCain, though. Potential double-edged spatula name-dropping him.

  22. General, I feel awful I didn’t see this earlier. I genuinely hope your daughter – and you and OfJoshua – are okay. You and I don’t always see eye-to-eye on politics (although we do more often than we don’t), but I consider you to be a genuine friend. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

  23. Always read, never comment, but now I will. Do what you have to do, be with your family. Sending good thoughts and hopes.

  24. Having gone through something similar, I sympathize. I send my strength to you. Please know you have a multitude of shoulders to lean on.

A General may lead, but he depends on his troops to complete the mission.

Our current mission is to support our General.

Please be strong. We will help.

It's the human thing to do.
