Brother Richard Mellon Scaife is a hero of mine. If it wasn't for him, we'd have never learned that Hitlery killed Vince Foster or that Klinton murdered the entire population of Mena, Arkansas using nothing more than a pointed stick and a broken beer bottle.
The man is a godsend. He's like a one-man conservative funding machine. In the past, he was the force behind the Arkansas Project. Today, he keeps the churches in line via the The Institute on Religion and Democracy and fights feminism by funding the Independent Women's Forum and the Ecumenical Coalition on Women and Society.
I came upon the latter group's site while surfing the web today. It's impressive. Their Declaration of Principles should be a mandatory text for all the young women and girls in our education system. If Brother Scaife has his way, I'm sure it will be.
I particularly liked this passage:
The notion of women's autonomy - including absolute control over our own bodies - leaves us with an unrealistic sense of human power and an exaggerated sense of independence from the consequences of our attitudes and actions.
The world would be a better place if women adopted this principle. Men would take their rightful place as masters and commanders of their household and the problems caused by equality would soon disappear. Women would no longer demand to be partners. Instead they'd cherish their roles as prized pieces of property like a Harley or Dodge Ram pickup truck. You know they'd learn to appreciate a fine Dodge Ram pickup truck then. You can bet they wouldn't make those snide jokes about big trucks and compensation anymore, the lying tarts.
Anyway, that's the world Brother Scaife envisions. That's why he's my hero.
