let me tell you a little somethin'
about that world you love
that world has gone away, baby
as soon as push came to shove
we got a habit
we got a need
let the world die
let the world bleed
oh, that oil, it sure is slick
it do so much, it is the trick
burn in the morning
burn it at night
light up the ocean
light it up right
oh, that oil, light it up right
fill up the tank, baby
shake your head and scoff
when it fills you up
it gets you off
we need it daily
we need it now
never mind the where
never mind the how
god up in heaven
man down in hell
drop in your bucket
way down the well
when it comes back
look right inside
the devil ain't lonely
when you let it ride
oh, that oil, it sure is slick
it do so much, it is the trick
burn in the morning
burn it at night
light up the ocean
light it up right
oh, that oil, light it up right
drive little johnny
all the way to school
drive his old lady
like nobody's fool
we got a product
that everyone needs
stick in the needle
everyone bleeds
oh, this is hopeless
what can you do
everyone usin'
everyone blue
oh, that oil, it sure is slick
it do so much, it is the trick
burn it in the morning
burn it at night
light up the ocean
light it up right
oh, that oil, light it up right
let me tell you a little somethin'
about that world you love
that world has gone away, baby
as soon as push came to shove

ReplyDeleteBless you, MJS, for the Muddy Waters clip. When I was in high school I bought the “Muddy ‘Mississippi’ Waters Live” LP and I played that sonofabitch till the grooves wore out. As Muddy once said, “The blues had a baby and they named it rock ’n roll.” He was the pride of Chicago.
ReplyDeleteReading that make me want to get a 10-ml syringe and an 18-gauge needle from work and inject a bolus of crude straight into a vein. Only I ain't got no oil floating on my local waters right now. Got a feeling it won't be long before I do, though. Won't be long before all of us do...
