Remembering

As he watches the combat troops leave Iraq, the General's inner Frenchman remembers those who never saw this day.

  1. Thanks, General.

  2. Let us never forget!

By that, I mean "Don't forget that there will be permanent U.S. military bases still in Iraq, packed with U.S. military "advisors," plus the guards at the Crusader Fortress -- I mean the $1-billion, as-big-as-Vatican-City U.S. Embassy -- with their 24 military helicopters and 50 armoured vehicles, plus uncountable numbers of mercenaries -- I mean "military contractors" -- and who knows how many more men and women with weapons. The Iraq Veteran sector at Arlington will not be a quiet place for decades...

  3. And one more thing! This here story in the Gimpy Grey Lady of the Lamestream Meeja says that a lot of the occupationercenary troops will be under command of the State Department. Do you realize what that means?!? Hillary will have her own army! And everybody thought teh Clenis was dangerous...

  4. General, Sir:

My snarkmojo is fucked up this morning. I want only one thing from Dickless Cheney, Rumfucker and the obscenity that was the U.S. president from 2001-2009; I want them to be paraded, in chains, down Main Street.

My bullshit meter just pegged. Your version of "rememberance" is the standard disingenuous "support the troops", if only to use their sacrifice as your own personal anti-war body count.

    Inner "frenchman", indeed.

  8. Pardon me, General, but I’m going to say it. Fuck you, sfcmac, you bigoted jackass. You don’t get tell us what we believe or don’t believe. George W. Bush lied the United States into war and violated his solemn duty to the troops – to never send them into harm’s way without a clear, compelling justification. And if you supported Bush and the war in Iraq, you betrayed the troops. Their deaths are your fault. The only reason why you insist that liberals “don’t support the troops” is because it salves your miserable guilty conscience. But it won’t work – if you supported Bush and the war in Iraq, you will go to your grave with the blood of thousands of soldiers and marines on your hands. You have no standing to complain about anything you see here, you craven jackal.

  9. Thank you, Dave. For sfcmac to turn a meditation on loss and suffering into a bitch-slap upon anyone who opposes illegal, propagandized wars, well, it's Tidy Rove all over the toilet bowl, all the way down. If we don't let the troops kill people in far away lands then we are what exactly? Fuck war, fuck the people who profit from war, and fuck those who haven't figured out how utterly used and pointless they have become.

Patriotism is no longer the last refuge of a scoundrel: it's the first and only refuge of the completely clueless, those with loads of testosterone but lacking a reliable GPS to help direct it somewhere useful.

  10. Now, now, I think sicfucmac is a liberal provocateur who's ashamed of the troops and resents their sacrifice. Only a libbo pussiweenie could object to a remembrance that involves showing the blood 'n' coffins of men who were braver than he will ever be. True kkkonservatives know that every body counts when America wages war for peace. USA! USA! USA! And who else but an effete San Francisco Mac user would find fault with a video with music from a cowboy band?!?

We'll try dumping haloscan and see how it works.
