Conserving White San Antonio

Bruce MacDougal
Executive Director
San Antonio Conservation Society

Dear Mr. MacDougal,

Congratulations on winning your court battle to block the city for renaming a street after Cesar Chavez. As your lawyer said, "It is very important that we protect the integrity of our history, and that includes objecting to changing street names."

That's an important point, especially now that the city's Hispanic population is edging above the two-thirds mark. I think Council Reed Williams put it well when he said:
It feels like a political majority is pushing its will, and it doesn’t have to.
[...]
The political majority should concern us all, particularly for a group of folks that have been in the minority that are moving to a majority.
Good God, they might begin treating us the same way we treated them.

Thankfully, all it takes is a quick look at the San Antonio Conservation Society's governing board to see that your organization is conserving the old ways. With names like Schreckenghost, Van Cleave, Hall, Richardson, Avellar, Turner, Smith, Hinkson, and MacDougal, it's obvious your board has resisted any effort to become more representative of your community.

Maybe you should push to rename a street after Reagan? Wait, it's already been done. How about naming one after Larry the Cable Guy?

Heterosexually yours,

Gen JC Christian, patriot

  1. You see? This is why there is no such thing as the 'Democracy of Heaven' or the 'Republic of Heaven'. It is always a monarchy.
When you get majorities of people wanting the same thing, no good can ever come of it. Well, unless their are WASPS. Then its ok.

  2. What about changing the name of the whole city to something more whitesome and delightsome, like Saint Anthony instead of "San Antonio"?? That would be trippy if they did!

  3. Well, San Antonio could teach those gutless cowards at the Navy a thing or two. Why those milquetoasts just named a ship after Cesar Chavez.

Say, this is off topic, General, but you may or may not find this amusing: Every time I come here and see Slog listed in the sidebar, I read it as … Shoq. Imagine my confusion. Heh.
