Music for the Movement

You might remember the protest music thread we did awhile back. I'm both narrowing and broadening the theme for this post. I'm broadening it to anything political and narrowing it to contemporary issus -- that means I can't post one of my favorites, Ohio by CSNY, but there are some great songs out today like Ani DiFranco's Hello Birmingham a song about hate, choice, and the murder of Dr. Barnett Slepian by Christian terrorists.

I'm trying something different this week and asking you to submit your favorites directly to Project Playlist (just use their search feature). Hopefully, it won't be a fiasco.

I've set up an account for you to do so:

James Hearn and Thinbuckle do an excellent bluegrass version of "War Pigs." It's really creepier than the Black Sabbath version.

What about Fugazi's "Cashout" or Joe Lally's "Sons and Daughters"?
